The Patriots wanted to keep Jimmy Garoppolo and give him a huge raise, but he no longer wanted to back up Tom Brady

Image
Maddie Meyer/Getty The New England Patriots traded Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday. The trade came as a surprise as the Patriots reportedly viewed Garoppolo as their future franchise quarterback. The Patriots tried to convince Garoppolo to re-sign with them this coming offseason, but he wanted to get the chance to start for another team, not play behind Tom Brady. The New England Patriots made the stunning decision on Monday to trade Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2018 second-round pick. The deal came as a surprise as the Patriots had reportedly viewed Garoppolo as their future franchise quarterback and wanted him to eventually take over when Tom Brady retires. According to The MMQB's Albert Breer , that sentiment never changed for the Patriots — instead it was Garoppolo who was ready to move on. Breer reported that the Patriots "put potential solutions in front of Garoppolo" in hopes of convincing him to stay before beco

The iPhone X is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus, but it's actually the largest iPhone screen Apple has ever made (AAPL)

Image
Hollis Johnson The iPhone model with the largest screen is the iPhone X, which has a 5.8-inch screen measured on the diagonal. But the iPhone X is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus, despite having a larger screen.  Should you buy an iPhone X? It's a tricky question if you're in the market — the iPhone X is pricey, starting at $999, and Apple's other phones like the iPhone 8 are just as fast.  But there's one big reason why the iPhone X may make Apple's other iPhones seem old and outdated: its screen. The iPhone X actually features Apple's biggest phone display, measuring 5.8-inches on the diagonal, which is even bigger than the display on Apple's largest iPhone, the iPhone 8 Plus, which measures at 5.5-inches.  It turns out that the iPhone X has the largest iPhone screen that Apple's ever made. But because the iPhone X has a design that stretches the display from corner to corner — except for the sensor housing at the top — the overall size of

Who was the dumbest, smartest, and most heroic in 'Stranger Things' season 2

Image
Netflix Warning: Spoilers for season two of "Stranger Things." If you aren't caught up on the series, read at your own risk.  Season two of "Stranger Things" brought back all of our favorite Hawkins, Indiana residents, and it introduced some new ones. This time around, we got to know minor characters from season one like Steve, Lucas, and Dustin.  This season was also packed with character development, scary monsters, big hair, and teenage heartbreak. So we've rounded up which characters were the smartest, dumbest, luckiest, and more in our power rankings.  Here's the "Stranger Things" power rankings based on what we saw in season two: Jim Hopper — the dumbest, best dancer Netflix Hopper makes some questionable choices in season two. His plan to keep Eleven in a cabin makes sense. He's protecting her from the people hunting her down. But he probably should have expected a teenager with literal superpowers to retaliate and want to s

How Nintendo turned Super Mario Odyssey into the ultimate vacation

Image
Whenever my hat-shaped spaceship landed on a new location in Super Mario Odyssey , my mind always went to the same place. Stretched out in front of me was a huge expanse of land — sometimes it was a lush jungle, other times an idyllic beach — and all I could think of was where I wanted to go first. Most big-budget video games are structured like epic quests, but Mario’s new globe-trotting adventure, Super Mario Odyssey , feels a lot more like a vacation. “The theme was basically going on a journey,” explains director Kenta Motokura, “and searching for surprise.” Mario may be trying to save the world, but he’s still going to enjoy his time everywhere he visits. It’s a feeling that extends throughout Odyssey , thanks to a series of seemingly... Continue reading… from The Verge - All Posts http://ift.tt/2hsl41T via IFTTT

Zapier makes it easier for teams to collaborate on their app workflows

Image
Earlier this year, Zapier launched a $250/month teams plan for its workflow automation service. Today, it’s adding some long-requested functionality to this that will make it easier for teams to collaborate. This comes in the form of shared folders, which doesn’t seem like it would be such a big deal, but this now makes it far easier for teams to collaborate on workflows. Rylo creates shake-free standard video from 360-degree shots

Image
I wasn’t particularly excited to take a meeting with another 360-degree camera company when I sat down with Rylo last week. It’s not that the tech isn’t interesting, or that there isn’t a future in it. For a majority of us, 360 video is, at best, an occasional novelty. But this Bay Area startup has the makings of something different. Read More from TechCrunch http://ift.tt/2zUqbP8 via IFTTT
