Trump says that he wants to have a 'fireside chat' on live TV and read out the transcript of his phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky

Chip Somodevilla / Getty Images President Donald Trump on Thursday said that he wanted to read aloud the transcript of his call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a "fireside chat on live television."  Speaking to conservative outlet the Washington Examiner , Trump remained defiant about participating in the impeachment proceedings against him and maintained that he did nothing wrong. Over a dozen witnesses have been interviewed in the inquiry so far. Associated Press House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on October 31, the night after the first major vote in the House on establishing procedures for the next phase of the impeachment inquiry. While on the show, the house speaker said she foresees a Democratic victory in 2020 — even if the "election were held today," the day House Democrats voted on impeachment inquiry procedures. A 7-year-old girl in a bumblebee costume was shot while trick-or-treating in Chicago

John J. Kim/Chicago Tribune via AP A 7-year-old girl out trick-or-treating in a bumblebee costume was critically injured Thursday night after being struck by apparent stray gunfire, police said. The shooting occurred early Halloween evening as the girl was walking with her family and other trick-or-treaters along a street in the Little Village neighborhood. Police said a group of males were chasing another male along the street when someone in the group fired at the intended victim. The girl, who was shot in the upper chest area, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.  A 31-year-old man was shot in the left hand and taken to a nearby hospital in good condition. Andrew Harnik/AP Tim Morrison, who stepped down from the National Security Council the day before testifying, was the first White House political appointee to appear and spent more than eight hours behind closed doors with House investigators. Morrison confirmed Thursday that military aid to Ukraine was held up by President Donald Trump's demand for the ally to investigate Democrats and Joe Biden, but testified there's nothing illegal, in his view, about the quid pro quo at the center of the Democrat-led impeachment inquiry. Morrison said he had a "sinking feeling" when he learned that Trump was asking the Ukrainians to publicly announce an investigation of Biden and the Democrats, even as the president denied it was a quid pro quo. 2020 Democratic hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders tweeted out his support for workers at the sports website Deadspin after many of its reporters quit en masse in response to an editorial disagreement between G/O executives and the staff, which led to the firing of former deputy editor Barry Petchesky . In a tweet on Thursday evening, Sanders said he stood with the workers who resigned from the company and "decided not to bow to the greed of private equity vultures."  Some of the workers who left Deadspin responded positively to the tweet.  "Welp, that settles my vote," said former Deadspin writer Albert Burneko .  Sanders has touted election plans to reform the media industry and help journalists unionize.
