The NFL playoff bracket is now set

  • The NFL playoff field is now set.
  • The Atlanta Falcons clinched the final spot in the NFC and the Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills clinched the final two spots in the AFC.
  • We also now know who will be playing on Saturday and who will play on Sunday during the first weekend of the playoffs.


We now know all 12 seeds for when the NFL playoffs begin next weekend.

In the NFC, the Atlanta Falcons clinched the final playoff spot with a win over the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers had already clinched a playoff spot, but their loss means they will be the other NFC Wild Card team and the New Orleans Saints are NFC South champs.

We already knew the Philadelphia Eagles would be the top seed in the NFC with home-field advantage. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings also earned a bye in the first round by being the 2-seed.

In the AFC, things were more complicated heading into Week 17, but the Tennessee Titans took care of business by winning on Sunday to clinch one Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens blew a lead in the final minute against the Cincinnati Bengals, giving the final Wild Card spot to the Buffalo Bills.

The New England Patriots sealed the top seed in the AFC on Sunday with a win over the New York Jets. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the two-seed.

Meanwhile, the schedule for the Wild Card matchups are as follows. The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Titans in the early game on Saturday and the Los Angeles Rams will host the Falcons at night on NBC.

And here are Sunday's games. The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Bills in the early game and the Panthers will travel to New Orleans for the late-afternoon tilt.

Winging it

Once again, your intrepid robotics reporter finds himself in the warm embrace of the Bay. To paraphrase Mark Twain, the warmest I was ever embraced was early summer in Santa Clara. I’m writing this from a juice place in Palo Alto (living the dream), having finished a pair of back-to-back meetings nearby. This week’s big Apple event brought me out here. As strange as it is to say, I’ve thus far missed the eye-burning smoke of Nova Scotia wildfires by traveling west to California. Very strange to view the apocalyptic New York skyline from afar. Upward and onward

The future is very much yet to be written about vertical farming. In many ways, the technology presents hope in the midst of rising food safety concerns, aging populations and potential environmental collapse. It’s also an intensely hard row to hoe, as it were. Early companies in the space are going to be the ones focused on driving down unit economics (hopefully) to a point where the technology makes sense from a price perspective. But sometimes being early to a party means you’re among the first to leave.
